VIT Vellore 312: what it usually refers to

There is no single official "VIT 312" at VIT Vellore. In practice, "312" almost always refers to a classroom or lab number inside one of the academic blocks — for example TT 312 (Technology Tower, 3rd floor, room 12), which VIT has used as a venue for conferences and classes.
How VIT room numbers work
VIT room codes are usually block code + room number, where the first digit is the floor:
- TT — Technology Tower
- SJT — Silver Jubilee Tower
- SMV — Sir M. Visvesvaraya Building
- MB / GDN / CDMM — other academic blocks
So "312" on your timetable means floor 3, room 12 of the block shown before it (TT 312, SJT 312 and so on).
How to find your room
- Check the block code in your VTOP timetable.
- Go to that building and take the lift or stairs to the floor shown by the first digit.
- Ask at the block's ground-floor office if numbering is unclear.
If you were looking for something else — such as a course code, a hostel room or an exam result — check VTOP or contact the VIT office directly.
Based on VIT's published event venues (e.g. VDAT-2024 sessions held in TT 312), checked November 2026. AskVellore is not affiliated with VIT.
